The O'Connell Lab aims to understand the genetic and environmental influences on ecologically important traits. Listed are a few of our projects on this theme.
We are interested in unraveling the genetic basis of morphological diversity in poison frogs to better understand how so much variation in an ecologically important trait has evolved.
We study brain evolution to understand how behavior evolves. We work to understand the changes in neurochemistry, connectivity, and integration of sensory information within a closely related clade but also across wide evolutionary distances - across vertebrates and beyond.
